    Dear eNews reader,

Happy New Year and all our wishes for a productive 2005!

In the rapidly changing world – and the construction market is a significant part of it - SCIA is obliged as a technology provider to contribute to your health. The quest for productivity gain is at its highest with increased prices for materials and labour and at the same time lower construction prices due to the international competition and the globalisation.

Productivity gains are booked with lower cost of structures and their design. By high quality tools the time for design is reduced, the output much more comprehensive (e.g. reports, drawings, digital exchanges); a better design also reduces the consumption of materials.

Yet reduction of cost is not the sole winner; through innovation and technological competence engineers are winning deals. SCIA is proud to offer you solutions for 3D intelligent modelling, for advanced analysis-design-detailing, for tools from design to fabrication.

SCIA had a successful year 2004 with an overall growth over 10%; great events took place: conferences on safe structures & on bridge design, a networking travel for managers in Prague, many breakfast sessions and free training days, the 30th years anniversary of SCIA and many more. During 2004 more than 300 new clients joined the club of 4000 registered clients. A wide spectrum of applicability is found in: infrastructure (bridges, tunnels, …), high-rise buildings, plant design, steel structures, scaffolding, … and of course the usual engineering design applications.

The New Year 2005 is even more promising. Watch the result of our SCIA User Contest with an upcoming catalogue, which assembles more than 80 significant design projects from clients all over Europe. In 2005 a new conference will focus on cost reduction in construction. The B.I.M. (Building Information Modelling) technology will be illustrated in practice. Exciting new software applications will be released, etc. etc.

We invite you to take part in one of the planned activities during the year. The 100 SCIA employees and SCIA partners will be pleased to meet you personally.
Watch your e-mail and our website: we will do our best to keep you informed.

All wishes for a successful 2005!
