SCIA Corporate News: The India Challenge for SCIA

Since July 2005 SCIA has installed a team of 6 programmers at Chennai, at the premises of CSI (Cads Software India). The first priority is to localize the SCIA.ESA PT product for India, by incorporating the Indian code in the design modules. Also a link with the CADS software for concrete has to be realized.

India is following the example of China when it comes to economical growth. If China is becoming the factory of the world, India will be the leader in services. Today India has over 2,5 million young professionals, of which more than 50% have an education in ... more

New mobile load analysis in SCIA.ESA PT 5.2

Two modules are available for mobile load analysis, esas.02 - mobile loads on frames and surfaces and esas.03 - advanced mobile loads on frames and surfaces.

These two modules offer a state-of-the-art solution for the calculation of structures subjected to mobile loads (bridge design, crane tracks, etc.).
These modules cover the complete design process used in the present bridge engineering standards, including a great variety of user-defined load systems, envelope results, results in selected points, etc.

The module generates influence lines / areas for a mobile load that move along a given track. The direction and intensity of the moving unit load can be altered. Further, defined load-systems can be positioned on the calculated influence lines. Critical positions are then found for these systems. This is known as the utilisation of influence lines. It is possible to ... more

Construction: the Eastern European countries elevate the European market

In the second quarter of 2005, production in the construction sector increased by 1,6 % in the euro zone and by 1,7 % in the European Union (UE-25), compared to the first quarter of 2005. The Eastern European countries primarily caused these quarterly rises.

Over one year, the production of the construction industry in the whole European Union increased by 0,4 %, according to the official figures as published by the European Office of Statistics, Eurostat.
On the other hand, if it progressed in the second quarter in the euro zone, it will decrease by 0,3% if a whole year is considered.

In detail, the biggest quarterly rises were obtained in the Eastern Bloc countries: +10,5% in Estonia; +9,1% in Slovenia and +8,2% in Poland. In comparison, ... more

Tips & Tricks: Insert an item into a Library in SCIA.ESA PT 5.2

The latest version, SCIA.ESA PT 5.2 allows the user to insert an item within a library. This makes it possible to insert for example a new load case within the load Cases Manager instead of adding the load case to the bottom of the list.

First of all, open a library, e.g. the Load Cases Manager.

Next, highlight a load case and press the Insert button .

A new load case is inserted before the highlighted one and not added at the bottom of the list. The name of this load case can now be ... more
