“BETONPRIJS” AWARDS 3 PROJECTS OF OUR USER CONTEST

The Dutch Concrete Association “Betonvereniging” organizes the bi-annual “Betonprijs” award for projects in which the concrete material is utilized in a particular way.
Discover here three projects that were awarded at the end of last year. These very projects also participated in the SCIA User Contest 2015. Looking at a post-tensioned bridge, a spectacular high-rise building and the unique Markthal in Rotterdam, concrete specialists will recognize the extraordinary quality of these projects.

SCIA ENGINEER: WHY IS THERE AN AXIAL FORCE IN THE RIB?

Ribs are an integral part of structures. In the past, engineers calculated structures as 2D slabs and ribs were included approximately (as a T section). With the 3D shell models, the ribs can be modelled more accurately as eccentric beams. This article explains the evaluation of internal forces of ribs.
